In some games, there is a special fund called the “kitty.” This is established by the players by unanimous or majority agreement, and it is used to pay for new decks of cards and food and drinks. In other games, the kitty is simply part of the pot.
In addition to betting, poker players use their bodies and their facial expressions to communicate with other players. They also watch for tells, which are unconscious habits that give away information about their hand. Tells can be as simple as a change in posture or as complex as a gesture.
